Neither of the solo versions are the interlude from the studio version; they're both taken from live performances. (From the sound of these two discs in particular, Bruhn and Bricheno traded solos a lot.) As far as what was really played, riffs 1 and 2 go together. On the second disc, what should be the replacement for riff 1 (to go with 3) was very hard to make out; riff 1 works well enough. Ending the solo with riff 1 makes the song sound fairly upbeat; 2 is really a pretty depressing way to go.
